Canada's national collaborative industry academic research capacity: Building CMIC Exploration Innovation Council

See program info

Late in 2008, an initiative aimed at enhancing Canadian mineral exploration was initiated. Industry set out to design a 10-year road map to increase mineral discovery based on new discovery criteria, exploration techniques and better data management and analysis. Beginning with six visionary individuals, the effort managed by Francois Robert grew to include over 20 exploration and service companies by 2011 to form the Exploration Innovation Council. The roadmap guided a NSERC-funded, Canada-wide R&D project “Footprints: Integrated multi-parameter footprints of ore systems: The next generation of ore deposit models”, based at Laurentian University.
