Metal-rich black shales of the Labrador Trough: implications for orogenic gold and sedimentary-hosted massive sulfides potential

See program info

Paleoproterozoic sedimentary successions of the Labrador Trough contain important amounts of graphite-sulfides black shales. Comparison of their metal contents with literature data indicate that these black shales are strongly enriched in metals (Zn, V, Mo, Ag, Ni, As, Te, U and Au). These metal-rich black shales have important implications for the orogenic gold potential and the potential for sedimentary-hosted massive sulfides in the second cycle of the Labrador Trough, and for surficial geochemistry surveys performed in the region.
